Rolex Cosmograph Daytona Book Vol. 2: Self-Winding Models (from 1988) - English Version
In 1963, Rolex launched a new chronograph that would become legendary: the COSMOGRAPH DAYTONA. It was used by race car drivers, as well as other athletes and celebrities, the most famous being American actor Paul Newman, who, unknowingly, greatly contributed to the incredible success of the Daytona today.
After 25 years, in 1988, Rolex decided to modernize its flagship model by equipping it with an automatic winding caliber, which permanently replaced the old manual winding movements. It then probably became one of the most coveted watches in history.
Since that time, the Cosmograph Daytona has continuously evolved, incorporating a multitude of technical innovations, whether in terms of the movement, which is always more efficient, or other components, such as the bracelet or the ceramic bezel. It is now available in a much wider range, including versions in precious metals and/or set with stones. However, the brand has always managed to maintain that unique DNA that makes the Daytona immediately identifiable.
Following a first volume dedicated to the manual winding models (1963-1988), Watchprint and the authors have published this second volume entirely devoted to the automatic models (from 1988 to the present). Thus, the two works will allow the reader to benefit from a complete guide on the entire production of the most famous chronograph of all time.
